Can you rehome my pet?
We’re very sorry to hear that you’re facing challenges in staying together with your pet. At PetRescue, our goal is to assist owners who are navigating the heartbreaking reality of needing to find a new home for their beloved companion. We hope the information provided here can offer you some guidance and reassurance.
PetRescue is a national charity that advertises pets for adoption from more than 1000 rescue groups, shelters and pounds on our website, but we don't have a physical shelter or the ability to take pets in to care ourselves.
NOTE: Home2Home is currently open to all species other than dogs. We do not currently have a timeframe for when we will be a position to re-open for dogs.
If you are able to continue caring for your pet during the adoption process, you may be interested in our Home2Home program. The program allows you to use the PetRescue website to find a new home for your pet, with one-on-one assistance from our team. Guardians need to have at least 6 weeks to rehome their pets to access the program. Pets that are eligible for the Home2Home program need to be de-sexed, microchipped and have current vaccinations.

Finally, you can also use our Rescue Directory to contact rescue groups in your area, to find one which may have space to take your pet or a waiting list for pet surrenders. Please note that typically rescue groups focus on pets at immediate risk in pounds and shelters, and may not have the capacity to take other pets into care.
