Listing senior pets

Just as some adopters wish to search for a puppy or kitten, we've found some want to be able to search for older pets, too! To assist with this request, a filter to search for senior pets to cater to adopters' search needs is available for use in listings when a pet is over four years of age.

There are no specific age restrictions for a senior pet. Senior pets are different for each species and even between breeds. Our definition of a senior pet is simply an older pet with the qualities someone looking for a senior pet wants, e.g. calmer, less exercise needed or perhaps suitable for an older person.

It’s important to note that selecting 'Senior pet (optional)' when listing a pet will not exclude them from the adult pet results - all senior pets will still display even if potential adopters have selected ‘Adult’ as a filter. 

Selecting this senior filter simply provides the individual pet the added advantage of being found in an advanced search by someone specifically looking to adopt an older companion.
