Manage your public group profile

Your group profile page is where the public can go to find out more information about your organisation and the pets you have available for adoption. It will appear on our public Rescue Directory (found in the navigation menu on the left-hand side of the PetRescue website), on all pet listings and in other search areas of the platform.

We recommend keeping this information updated so potential adopters can easily find the most accurate information about your organisation.

It’s also important to note that all team members' accounts are linked to your group profile, however, only Group Admins have access to modify the information on this page.

To make the most of your group profile and truly highlight your organisation, we recommend that you include:

  • A description ‘About’ your organisation
  • Details regarding your adoption policies and level (flexible, medium, strict)
  • Your organisation’s logo
  • The state(s) your organisation is active in
  • Contact details (you can choose to keep this private or share publicly)
  • Address (you can choose to keep this private or share publicly)
  • Links to your social media page(s) and website
  • Pet’s available for adoption
  • Vet referee contact details
  • Your organisation's Australian Business Number
  • Group settings

To edit your group profile, log into your Group Admin account, then:

  • Go to ‘My Group Profile
  • Click the 'Edit' button at the top of the page
  • Proceed to make your desired adjustments/additions
  • Finally, click 'Update Group' at the bottom of the page

‘About’ your group

Share details about your organisation in the ‘About’ section on your group profile, such as:

  • When your organisation was established
  • The types of pets in your care
  • Your mission, vision and values

Example:

Your Logo

Upload your logo by clicking the green ‘Choose file’ button. We recommend uploading a logo that is 340x250px.

To remove your logo, select the ‘Remove logo’ box seen in the image below, then scroll to the bottom of the page and click ‘Update Group’ to save this change.

The state(s) you’re active in

This field lets potential adopters know the state you operate in and the states where pet’s in your care are available.

To update this field, scroll down to ‘States’ and select the boxes for the state(s) you operate. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click ‘Update Group’ to save any changes.

Your adoption process

Outlining your adoption process helps prospective adopters understand requirements early on in their journey, enabling them to connect more smoothly with your rehoming organisation.

This helps to set expectations from the get-go, which means better matches, faster. And that means more lives saved!

Sharing this information with adopters from the start can:

  • Direct them to your preferred method of contact or preferred form of application (e.g. if you prefer them to call you, visit your shelter or complete an adoption form as the initial enquiry)
  • Set expectations (e.g. when they can expect a response, or how you will contact them)
  • Prevent back and forth (by stating what they need to provide with their application up front)

Please see an example adoption process below:

Contact details

If you wish to make your contact details visible to the public, check the box next to ‘Make your contact name and phone number public’.

To list only your preferred contact method, select ‘Only display your preferred contact method’.

Location/Address

If you invite people to visit your shelter or other location, including your address is recommended.

You do not need to make this information public if you do not wish to.

Links to your social media pages and website

Including links to your social media and website on your group profile helps potential adopters discover more about you and learn about all the amazing work you do.

Pets available for adoption

Once you start listing pets, your pet listings will appear at the bottom of your Group Profile page.
